Alexander Fidora is an ICREA Research Professor at the Department of Ancient and Medieval Studies, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). His research focuses on medieval philosophy, cross-cultural transmission of texts, religious polemics, and Catalan medieval literature. He holds ERC grants for projects on Latin texts and their translations, and has been honored with the Samuel Toledano Prize (2012) and Premi Internacional Catalònia (2011).
His academic career includes roles such as Vice-President of the Society for Medieval Philosophy (SIEPM), Executive Director of the Institut d'Estudis Medievals, and President of the Spanish Society of Medieval Philosophy. He has led major research initiatives including the 'Latin Talmud' ERC Consolidator Grant (2014) and 'Latin into Hebrew' ERC Starting Grant (2008).
Key contributions include edited volumes on Latin-Hebrew textual exchanges, studies on medieval divination and epistemology, and critical editions of Catalan and Latin medieval texts. His work bridges philosophy, theology, and literary studies, with particular attention to interfaith dialogue and manuscript transmission.
