Professor Ferri Aliabadi is the Chair in Aerostructures at the Department of Aeronautics, Faculty of Engineering, Imperial College London. He is affiliated with the Aerospace Materials and Structures group, Computational Methods and Mathematical Modelling, Space Lab, Structural Integrity and Health Monitoring, and The Composites Centre. His research focuses on Computational Mechanics, Fracture & Damage Mechanics, and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) for aerospace applications.
- Administrative duties: Head of Department of Aeronautics (2009-2017)
- Key projects: SMASH, SCOPE, SARISTU (SHM platform for wing), SHERLOC (Cleansky II), BANNG, AVATAR (digital twinning), ATI project with Rolls Royce (hydrogen fuel tank)
Research areas include boundary element method (BEM), finite element method (FEM), mesh-free methods, acoustics noise control, nonlinear mechanics, contact/wear mechanics, optimization, reliability analysis, and multiscale material modeling. His work has been funded by EU programs like Horizon 2020 and industry partners (Airbus, Leonardo).

He has supervised 76 PhD students and 22 postdoctoral researchers, and serves as Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Multiscale Modelling and the Experimental and Computational Methods in Solids and Structures book series.
