Fernández Guillén is a Full Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He serves as Director of the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour and Head of the Department of Cognitive Neuroscience. His roles also include Principal Investigator at the Donders Center for Cognitive Neuroimaging and Adjunct Professor at the University of Amsterdam (2005–2010). He holds leadership in neuroscientific research with a focus on memory, neurogenetics, and neuropsychopharmacology.

- Education: Medical training at University Medical Centers in Bonn and Magdeburg, postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University (1997).
