Prof. Fernando Buarque de Lima Neto is a Visiting International Professor at the University of Münster, collaborating with the Department of Information Systems. He is affiliated with the University of Pernambuco (Brazil), where he leads the Computational Intelligence research group since 2003. His collaborations with Prof. Hellingrath, Prof. Vossen, and Prof. Kuchen focus on integrating Computational Intelligence methods into Supply Chain Management.
His research spans three core areas:
- Swarm Intelligence, Evolutionary, Social, and Hybrid Metaheuristics
- Modeling and Simulation of Stochastic Problems
- Intelligent Decision Support Systems (including Computational Semiotics)
During his visiting professorship, he envisions extended collaborations, mentoring PhD students, participating in structural doctoral programs, and developing specialization modules/seminars until 2025. His accolades include a prestigious Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation scholarship, enabling recurring visits to Münster since 2015.
