Fernand Cohen

Fernand Cohen is a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at Drexel University, serving as Director of the Imaging and Computer Vision Center (ICVC) since 2003. Previously, he was affiliated with the University of Rhode Island before joining Drexel in 1987.

• Education: PhD in Electrical Engineering (Brown University, 1983), MS in Electrical Engineering, BS in Physics (American University in Cairo)

Dr. Cohen’s research focuses on computer vision, medical image processing, and applied stochastic processes, with projects spanning:

• Invariant theory of 2D/3D shapes for brain mapping and registration
• Object tracking and motion estimation
• Face recognition systems
• Ultrasound B-scan analysis for tissue characterization
