Ferda İlerten is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Education, Department of Foreign Languages at Yıldız Technical University. Holding a PhD in Foreign Language Education from Boğaziçi University (2012-2021), she is currently pursuing post-doctoral research at Harvard Graduate School of Education (2024-present). With over 13 years of teaching experience, she has held roles including Deputy Head of Department (2013-2015, 2019-2020) and taught at institutions like Brown University and Harvard University.

Her research focuses on foreign language education, critical thinking, practicum training, and gender in language. She has led projects like the TUBITAK-funded longitudinal study on 21st-century skills in pre-service English teaching. Her work bridges bilingualism and educational evaluation, with recent publications analyzing Turkish-Arabic bilingual children's reading fluency and metadiscourse in EFL writing.
Scientific collaborations include co-authoring studies with scholars such as Banu Haznedar and Nihal Babür. Awards include the 2008 Best Oral Presentation Award at the 8th International Conference on Language, Literature, and Rhetoric. She has participated in 8+ international conferences and received grants like the Fulbright Teaching Assistant Program.
