Fena Ochs is an Associate Professor and Group Leader at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, affiliated with the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine and the Molecular Aging Program. She earned her Ph.D. in 2018 from the Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Protein Research at the same university, where her doctoral research under Prof. Jiri Lukas explored tumor suppressor 53BP1 and chromatin organization.
Her research focuses on:
- DNA damage response and repair mechanisms
- 3D chromatin architecture and genome organization
- Cohesin complex dynamics in chromosome segregation
- Advanced microscopy techniques including live-3D-Structured Illumination super-resolution microscopy
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on genome integrity mechanisms, with recent work emphasizing chromatin topology, DNA replication stress, and innovative imaging methodologies. Earlier research established foundations in DNA repair pathways and replication fork management.
Awards:
- Eppendorf Award 2025 Finalist (2023)
As Group Leader, she directs research on molecular aging processes and maintains international collaborations with institutions including the University of Oxford.
