Felix T. Haase is a researcher at the Interface Science Department of the Fritz Haber Institute (FHI) of the Max Planck Society. He completed his doctoral studies at TU Berlin in May 2023, focusing on the surface reactivity of transition metal-based model catalysts for small molecule oxidation. His research addresses electrocatalytic processes, particularly improving the efficiency of alkaline water electrolysis through advanced Co-based nanocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). He has contributed to foundational understanding of OER mechanisms under alkaline and neutral conditions, employing advanced experimental techniques such as AFM, XPS, ICP-MS, and operando studies.
During his PhD, he co-authored 10 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals like Nature Energy and JACS, including two as first author. At FHI since 2018, he played a key role in establishing electrochemical, synthesis, and characterization laboratories, managing complex instruments. His work bridges theoretical insights with practical catalyst design, advancing sustainable hydrogen production technologies.
