Felix Pithan

Dr. Felix Pithan is a group leader in Atmospheric Physics at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven, Germany. He leads the ERC-funded A3M-transform project focusing on Arctic amplification through air-mass transformations. His research interests include climate modeling, boundary-layer meteorology, and Arctic dynamics. He holds an ERC Starting Grant and has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed publications since 2010. Key work includes evaluating CMIP6 models, Arctic boundary-layer stability, and climate feedback mechanisms. His research leverages observational data (e.g., MOSAiC expedition) and advanced techniques like machine learning for reanalysis correction. He collaborates on projects such as the HALO aircraft campaign and investigates extreme events in polar regions.
