Felix Koenig is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. He holds a Ph.D. and MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from the University of Oxford. Prior to academia, he worked at the German Bundesbank and served as a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University. His research focuses on economic inequality, technological change in labor markets, and employment dynamics, particularly exploring superstar effects, wage determination, and barriers to employment for disadvantaged groups.
Dr. Koenig’s affiliations include the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) as a Research Fellow and the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) as an affiliate. His work employs large-scale administrative tax data, historical Census records, and household surveys to analyze labor market trends. Current projects investigate workplace amenities valuation, immigration’s role in top income inequality, and the impact of hiring frictions on wage adjustments. Recent publications include studies on the rollout of television’s economic effects and wage flexibility puzzles.
