Prof. Federiga Bindi is a Professor of Political Science and Jean Monnet Chair at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, with a secondary appointment as Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at SAIS Johns Hopkins University. Her career includes roles as Senior Advisor to the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fellow in the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels. She has held visiting positions at institutions such as the Brookings Institution and Sciences Po.
Her research focuses on European Union foreign policy, transatlantic relations, and Italy’s diplomatic strategy. Major works include The Foreign Policy of the European Union, analyzing EU global engagement, and Italy and the EU, exploring domestic-political influences on European integration. Her scholarship bridges academic analysis with policy-oriented insights, emphasizing institutional dynamics and geopolitical challenges.
Recent publications (2022–2019) critically examine post-Brexit EU adaptation, transatlantic strategic realignments, and Italy’s evolving role in global governance. Key themes include EU security architecture, Sino-Italian relations, and gender representation in policy discourse.
Her academic contributions also include foundational texts like Analyzing European Union Politics, and she has served on advisory boards for EU institutions and think tanks.
