Dr. Federico Fedele is a Senior Research Fellow in the Materials Department at the University of Oxford, holding the W. W. Spooner Junior Research Fellowship in Engineering since 2022. He earned his undergraduate and Master's degrees in Physics from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and completed his PhD at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, focusing on semiconductor quantum devices for quantum computing.
His research centers on quantum technologies, including nanoscale quantum devices for quantum information encoding and manipulation, and hybrid systems coupling quantum entities with nanomechanical resonators. He investigates thermodynamic aspects of quantum information processing, particularly the energetics of quantum-to-classical transitions. His work also integrates machine learning for optimizing quantum device performance and stability.
Fedele’s contributions include advancing quantum dot array simulations (QArray) and developing autonomous tuning algorithms for spin qubits. He has published extensively on topics such as quantum thermodynamics, spin-mechanical couplings, and AI-driven quantum control systems.
