Federico Cornalba is a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath. His research focuses on stochastic processes, partial differential equations, and particle systems, with particular emphasis on the Dean-Kawasaki equation and its applications in fluctuating hydrodynamics. He holds a Master of Mathematics from Politecnico di Milano (2015) and a PhD from the University of Bath (2019), supervised by Professors Tony Shardlow and Johannes Zimmer.
His work bridges theoretical analysis and computational methods, addressing challenges in density fluctuations, inertial effects, and numerical approximation of complex stochastic systems. Key contributions include multilevel Monte Carlo techniques for the Dean-Kawasaki equation, reduced inertial PDE models for flocking dynamics, and regularisation strategies for nonlocal equations.
Recent research trends show a focus on interdisciplinary applications in mathematical physics and computational statistics, including sampling algorithms for sparse priors and multi-agent systems analysis. His publications span high-impact journals like the Annals of Probability and SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis.
