معرفی
Federico Bianchi is a Professor at the University of Helsinki’s Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR) within the Faculty of Science. His research focuses on atmospheric aerosol processes, biogenic particle formation, and their impacts on climate and human health. He leads projects like Chasing Pre-Industrial Aerosols and Organic Geoengineering, and collaborates internationally on initiatives such as the Pan-Eurasian Experiment (PEEX).
Research Interests: Bianchi specializes in aerosol dynamics, new particle formation mechanisms, and the interplay between air pollution and climate. He investigates topics including biogenic emissions (e.g., monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes), urban pollution transport, and high-altitude aerosol chemistry in regions like the Amazon, Himalayas, and Arctic.
Awards: He has received the Arne Richter Award for Outstanding Early Career Scientists (2017) and the Swiss Aerosol Award (2016). His work is supported by grants from the European Union and national funding agencies.
Labs/Teams: He supervises the Polar and Arctic Atmospheric Research (PANDA) group and contributes to the Doctoral Programme in Atmospheric Sciences. Collaborations include the WRF-Chem modeling team and field campaigns like SALTENA in the Andes.
