Federica Russo

Federica Russo is a Full Professor in philosophy and ethics of techno-science, holding the Westerdijk Chair at the Freudenthal Institute, Utrecht University. She also serves as an Honorary Professor at University College London (Department of Science and Technology Studies).

Previous academic positions include:

• University of Pittsburgh
• University of Louvain

Her research focuses on epistemological, methodological, and normative aspects in health and social sciences within policy contexts and highly technologized environments. Key areas include causation and causal modelling, evidence frameworks, technology ethics, and philosophy of information, with significant contributions to understanding exposomics and scientific-technological interplay.

Russo currently serves as editor-in-chief of Digital Society and executive Editor of Philosophy and Technology. She is a member of the European Philosophy of Science Association Steering Committee and External Faculty at the University of Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Study.
