Faysal Itani is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University's Center for Security Studies (CSS) and serves as Director at the New Lines Institute for Strategy and Policy. He is also an Associate Editor at New Lines Magazine. His expertise focuses on Middle East politics, US policy in the region, and security dynamics, particularly in Syria. Itani holds an MA in strategic studies and international economics from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), a BA in business from the American University of Beirut, and a certificate in public policy from Georgetown University.
His research interests include geopolitical conflicts, economic policy in the Middle East, and security implications of regional instability. He has advised governments and international organizations on political and economic risks, with extensive briefings to US and allied governments on Syria’s conflict. Itani has been widely featured in prominent media outlets such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, and The Wall Street Journal.
Notable publications include analyses on Lebanon’s political crises, US military strategies in Syria, and the long-term impacts of the Syrian conflict. His work bridges academic research with policy-oriented insights, emphasizing practical applications of strategic studies.
