Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın serves as the 12th Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), having assumed office on September 23, 2024. As the chief executive officer of the university, she oversees all academic and administrative operations of the institution.
Since taking office, Rector Aydın has hosted numerous dignitaries including university rectors from Kazakhstan Ahmet Yesevi University and Uzbekistan Alfraganus University, the Chairman of Turkey's Planning and Budget Commission, and various provincial officials from Samsun. She has actively participated in university initiatives, attending the 'Global Sustainable Development Congress' and signing cooperation protocols with Atakum Municipality, BOTAŞ, and other institutions.
Her leadership includes inspecting university facilities such as the Life Center and Fine Arts Education Department, while making public statements on academic matters including wishes for success to Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) candidates. She has issued official messages for New Year's celebrations and Disability Awareness Day, demonstrating engagement with both academic and social responsibilities of the university.
