Fatemeh Maghuly

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Fatemeh Maghuly is a senior academic and research group leader in the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), Department of Biotechnology and Food Sciences. She specializes in functional plant genomics, genome editing, and molecular breeding of crops including grapevine, cassava, Jatropha, and rye.

Research Interests: Her work integrates advanced biotechnological tools such as CRISPR/Cas9, long-read sequencing, and multi-omics approaches to enhance stress resistance, improve nutritional quality, and accelerate crop domestication. Key areas include mutation breeding, virus resistance, allergenomics, and sustainable biofuel crop development.

Recent Research Trends: Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals a strong focus on methodological advancements in genome editing, functional genomics in woody and tropical species, and computational prediction of gene function and regulation.
