Dr. Fateme Akhlaghi is a Research Fellow in the Functional Materials and Microsystems group at RMIT University’s School of Engineering. Her work focuses on developing wearable biosensors for MedTech applications, including real-time drug monitoring and cancer biomarker detection. She has collaborated with institutions like Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and industry partners such as Nutromics.
Her research interests span conductometric biosensors, polyoxometalate hybrids, and organometallic materials. Notable projects include non-invasive cancer biomarker detection and electrochemical aptamer-based sensors. Dr. Akhlaghi has received awards including the Postdoctoral Research Grant (2018) and scholarships from the University of Melbourne (2013).
- Industry Collaboration: Nutromics (wearable vancomycin sensors)
- Key Projects: 2021-2023 cancer biosensor development, polyoxometalate catalysis (2018-2019)
She supervises research projects on molecularly imprinted polymers, environmental estrogen sensors, and ovarian cancer diagnostics. Dr. Akhlaghi’s work integrates interdisciplinary approaches in materials science and biomedical engineering.
