Dr Farnoosh Farhad is a Senior Lecturer in the Mechanical and Construction Engineering Department at Northumbria University. Her expertise spans materials characterisation, fatigue analysis, and corrosion testing. She holds a BSc from National University (Iran), an MSc from Newcastle University (UK), and a PhD from the National Structural Integrity Research Centre, funded by BP and TWI Ltd. Her research focuses on environmental fatigue, crack evolution, and medical implant materials, utilizing advanced imaging techniques like X-ray tomography.
Dr Farhad has received notable awards including the International Postgraduate Scholarship (2011) and the Educational Award from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (2018). She actively promotes diversity in engineering through roles like Vice-Chair of TWI's Tipper group. Her teaching portfolio includes Statics, Vehicle Dynamics, Finite Element Methods, and MATLAB.
Her publications explore corrosion fatigue in pipelines, stainless steel behavior, and novel testing apparatus design. She is currently accepting PhD students and collaborates with industry partners like TWI and BP.
