Dr. Fanny Petibon is a Lecturer at ETH Zurich's Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS), affiliated with the GIS team (GISTeam), Forest Resources Management (FORM) group, and Soil Resources (SR) group. Her research focuses on leveraging remote sensing techniques to monitor biodiversity and its drivers, particularly climate change impacts on fire regimes in Europe and historical land-use changes in African tropics affecting soil properties. She holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Zurich.
Teaching responsibilities include GIS, remote sensing, and soil science education at both BSc/MSc levels. She co-leads strategic development of data science courses at the Institute of Terrestrial Ecosystems (ITES), coordinates soil science educational materials, and engages in public outreach. Her work bridges environmental science with innovative pedagogical strategies.
