Fanny Lanternier is a prominent researcher at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France, specializing in medical mycology and the epidemiology of invasive fungal infections. She serves as Principal Investigator for the "Databases on the epidemiology of invasive fungal infections in France" project and is an active member of the French Mycoses Study Group, a nationwide network of clinicians and microbiologists diagnosing and treating patients with fungal infections.
Her research focuses on the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, mucormycosis, and other invasive fungal diseases, particularly in immunocompromised populations including patients with autoimmune diseases, HIV, and primary immunodeficiencies. Dr. Lanternier's work demonstrates strong trends toward large-scale collaborative epidemiological studies with clinical translation potential.
Her recent publications show increasing emphasis on mold-positive blood cultures, cryptococcosis in HIV-negative individuals, and fungal infections in patients with specific immune deficiencies like STAT3 Hyper-IgE Syndrome. She collaborates extensively with Olivier Lortholary, Dea Garcia-Hermoso, and other leading experts in the field.
Dr. Lanternier contributes to the Medical Mycology MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) directed by Dea Garcia-Hermoso and Olivier Lortholary, demonstrating her commitment to education and knowledge dissemination in the field of medical mycology.
