Prof. Fanny Janssen is an Honorary Professor in Mortality and Longevity at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Spatial Sciences and a Senior Researcher at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI-KNAW). She holds a PhD in Medical Demography (2005) from Rotterdam and has been active in academic research since. Currently, she focuses on mortality trends, health determinants, and socioeconomic inequalities in aging populations. Her work bridges demography, epidemiology, and public health, addressing topics like smoking’s impact, alcohol-related mortality, and cross-country health disparities.
