Prof. Fang ZHAO is a Visiting Professor at Staffordshire University, previously serving as Associate Dean - Research and Enterprise in the Staffordshire Business School. As a globally recognized researcher in digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategy, she has published over 120 peer-reviewed articles in top-tier journals. Her expertise spans digital strategy, circular economy, smart cities, and cross-cultural management. She has led 20+ research projects funded by entities such as the Australian Research Council and UKRI.
Prof. Zhao holds a PhD in Management (1998, Western Sydney University) and a Master of Education (1995, La Trobe University). She has worked across Australia, the UK, UAE, and the South Pacific in roles including professor, programme leader, and university administrator. Her teaching excellence is evidenced by multiple awards over 25+ years of academia.
Her research interests include digital transformation, smart cities, circular economy (waste management, sustainable fishery), digital government diffusion, and South Pacific policy issues. Notable projects include the £986k Staffordshire Connected & Intelligent Mobility project and the Yellagonga Wetlands Smart Monitoring Project in Australia.
Prof. Zhao’s work emphasizes international collaboration in research and education, with a focus on sustainable development and transnational initiatives. She currently serves on the Board of Staffordshire’s Intelligent Mobility project, supporting SMEs through AI, IoT, and big data solutions.
