Fang-Xu Jiang is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Western Australia, within the Medical Science and Genetics department. His research focuses on diabetes mechanisms, pancreatic islet development, stem cell biology, and regenerative medicine. Key interests include beta cell maturation, stem cell differentiation, and insulin secretion regulation.
He leads three major grants, including projects on manufacturing glucose-responsive insulin-secreting cells and investigating beta-cell differentiation mechanisms. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being. Over 39 research outputs demonstrate expertise in islet biology, stem cell therapy, and functional genomics. Email: fang-xu.jiang@perkins.uwa.edu.au.
Research highlights include studying Claudin 4’s role in islet function and exploring vitamin D’s protective effects on beta cells under hyperglycemia. His studies span from in vitro reprogramming of mesenchymal stem cells to transcriptomic analyses of diabetes models.
