معرفی
Dr. Fanfan Zhou is an Associate Professor in Pharmaceutics at the Sydney Pharmacy School, University of Sydney. She holds a BSc from China Pharmaceutical University and a PhD from Rutgers University. Her research focuses on drug development for eye diseases and molecular characterization of Solute Carrier Transporters (SLCs). She collaborates internationally on retinal and cancer research, leveraging grants from institutions like the China National Science Foundation and USYD-ZJU partnership. Her work spans drug screening, SLC regulation in disease, and nanoparticle drug delivery.
Education: BSc in Biopharmaceutics (China Pharmaceutical University & Nanjing University, 2002); PhD in Pharmacology (Rutgers University, 2008).
Research Interests: Two core themes drive her work—developing therapies for retinal diseases and investigating SLC transporters' roles in drug pharmacokinetics. She explores novel herbal compounds, nanoparticle delivery systems, and SLC interactions with anti-cancer/anti-inflammatory drugs.
Recent Publications: Focus on uveal melanoma drug targets, Ginkgo biloba's neuroprotective effects, and polymyxin transport mechanisms. Highlights include 2025 studies on calcium signaling in cancer metastasis and 2024 work on Erdafitinib-induced ferroptosis in melanoma.
Awards: 2019 University of Sydney Equity Fellow. Grants include USYD-Wepon scholarships and China National Science grants.
Advising & Labs: Mentors PhD/Master students in drug development and SLC research. Leads projects on retinal drug delivery and SLC genetic variations' impact on therapies. Collaborates with labs like the Centre for Drug Discovery Innovation.
Labs/Teams: Member of the China Studies Centre, Marie Bashir Institute for Infectious Diseases, and Cancer Research Network. Active in international partnerships with Jiangsu Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Zhejiang University.
