معرفی
Dr. Fan Yang is an Assistant Professor in Theoretical Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Utrecht University, The Netherlands. Her research focuses on various facets of dependence logic and team semantics, exploring their theory and applications. She has held previous academic positions at the University of Helsinki as an Academy Research Fellow (2020-2022) and postdoc researcher (2017-2020), and at Delft University of Technology (2015-2017) and Utrecht University (2014-2015) as a postdoc researcher.
Dr. Yang received her academic training through an international path:
- Doctor of Philosophy, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Helsinki, Finland (2014), supervised by Prof. Jouko Väänänen. PhD thesis: "On Extensions and Variants of Dependence Logic"
- Master of Science, Institute for Logic, Language and Computation, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands (2008), supervised by Prof. Dick de Jongh
- Bachelor of Philosophy, Department of Philosophy, Sun Yat-sen University, China (2005)
Her research interests center around dependence logic and team semantics, with significant contributions to the theoretical foundations and applications of these frameworks. Dr. Yang has expanded the field by exploring connections with intuitionistic logic, modal logic, and causal inference. Her work bridges philosophical questions with mathematical rigor, examining how dependence and independence phenomena can be formally captured and reasoned about. She has made notable contributions to axiomatization systems, model-theoretic properties, and the expressive power of various logical systems based on team semantics.
Dr. Yang's scientific recognition includes:
- Academy Research Fellow (2020-2022) at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Helsinki
As an educator, Dr. Yang contributes to the academic community through teaching courses such as "Logic and Computation" and "Mathematics for AI" at Utrecht University. Her research is supported by various academic institutions and has resulted in numerous publications in prestigious journals and conference proceedings. She actively participates in the international logic community through collaborations with the Helsinki Logic Group, Inquisitive Semantics Research Group, and the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation.
Dr. Yang is involved in several research initiatives related to dependence logic, including maintaining a resource website for research on dependence logic and contributing to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy entry on "dependence logic." She participates in multiple logic seminars including the TULIPS seminar, Helsinki Logic Seminar, and LIRa seminar.
