Faith Barrett is a Professor at Duquesne University's McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts. Her research focuses on 19th-century American poetry, particularly its role in shaping national identity and citizenship during the Civil War era. She co-edited Words for the Hour (2005) and authored To Fight Aloud Is Very Brave (2012). Current work examines African American poetry (1830–1850) as a tool for civil rights advocacy.
