Fae Garland

Fae Garland is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Manchester. She holds a PhD from the University of Exeter (2013), an MRes in Socio-Legal Research (2008), and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Aberystwyth University (2007). Her research focuses on intersex rights, gender law, medical ethics, and legal education, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to gender equality and quality education.

Her work explores intersections of law with medical practices, particularly regarding intersex embodiment, judicial decision-making in gender care, and the societal impact of legal frameworks. She has co-organized conferences on feedback mechanisms in law schools and participated in interdisciplinary dialogues on intersex advocacy.

Recent publications highlight themes such as cultural awareness of intersex in Malta, temporalities of gendered childhoods, and the legacy of judicial involvement in gender care for minors. Her research bridges legal theory with practical applications, emphasizing systemic reforms and marginalized communities' empowerment.
