Fadi Mohsen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Groningen (Netherlands), within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Previously, he held positions as Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan-Flint (2016–2019) and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Ph.D. program). He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science at UNC Charlotte under Dr. Mohamed Shehab, followed by a Master's at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and a Bachelor's at the University of Jordan's King Abdullah II School of Information Technology.
His research focuses on cybersecurity, particularly mobile and Android security, malware detection, and privacy preservation. Key projects include countering intrusive apps via security-centric ranking algorithms, profiling malware through system call graphs, and developing adaptive security policies. He has contributed to datasets like the Android Apps Privacy Scores and cyber attack classification frameworks.
Recent work includes hybrid approaches for fake news detection, insider threat monitoring (E-Watcher system), and heuristic-based malware detection reviews. He has received grants for interdisciplinary projects involving law and engineering faculties.
Awards include two Incentive Fund Grants (2024, 2023) for interdisciplinary collaborations. His research has been published in journals like Future Internet, IEEE Access, and conferences such as COMPSAC and CRiSIS.
