معرفی
Dr. Fabrice Lacroix is a Research Fellow and Group Leader of the High Latitude Biogeochemical Feedbacks group at the Institute of Geography of the University of Bern. His research focuses on understanding climate change impacts through high-latitude systems, with particular emphasis on glacier dynamics, permafrost thaw, and marine/terrestrial carbon cycles. Key areas include assessing the long-term consequences of climate overshoot scenarios on Arctic ecosystems, sea level rise, and global carbon budgets.
His work integrates observational data with advanced Earth system models to explore feedback mechanisms between biogeochemical processes and climatic drivers. Recent studies highlight irreversible glacier changes post-Paris Agreement breaches and the role of coastal oceans in CO2 sequestration. Dr. Lacroix collaborates extensively on interdisciplinary projects such as AERA-MIP, advancing emission pathway analysis and carbon cycle dynamics under 1.5°C/2°C stabilization targets.
Notable contributions include quantifying pan-Arctic soil nutrient availability, linking freeze-thaw cycles to CO2 emissions, and reconstructing pre-industrial coastal carbon fluxes. His research underscores the urgency of mitigating near-term temperature overshoots to prevent cascading environmental tipping points.
