Fabio Moneta

Fabio Moneta is a Full Professor and holds the RBC Financial Group Fellowship in Finance at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. He also serves as Co-Director of the Microprogram Capital Markets and the Telfer Capital Fund. Additionally, he is a Senior Research Fellow at the Long-Term Investors think tank at Collegio Carlo Alberto (Università di Torino) and coordinates the Responsible Investing sub-cluster of the Centre for a Responsible Wealth Transition. Prior to joining Telfer, he was an Assistant Professor at Queen’s University and held visiting roles at Università di Pisa and Collegio Carlo Alberto.

He holds a B.A. (Hon.) in Economics from the University of Pisa, an MSc in Finance from CORIPE Piemonte (Turin), and a Ph.D. in Finance from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management.

His research focuses on asset pricing, institutional investors, mutual fund performance, commodities, and responsible investing. He has published in top journals like Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Energy Economics. His work has been funded by SSHRC, CSI Research Foundation, and others, totaling over $320,000 in grants since 2016. Recent projects include studies on government purchases’ macroeconomic effects and crowding in institutional investing.

He has taught courses across undergraduate, MBA, and PhD levels, including empirical asset pricing, sustainable finance, and portfolio management. His research has been featured in Bloomberg, Financial Times, and Morningstar.
