Fabio Crestani is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Informatics, University of Lugano (USI), Switzerland (since 2007). He previously held academic positions at the University of Strathclyde (UK, 2000-06), University of Padua (Italy, 1992-97), and research roles at the University of Glasgow (UK) and International Computer Science Institute (USA). He holds a degree in Statistics and Economics from Padua, and an MSc/PhD in Computing Science from Glasgow.
His research focuses on Information Retrieval, Text Mining, and Digital Libraries, with over 200 refereed publications. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Information Processing and Management, a leading journal in IR. His work explores semantic relationships between diverse objects (electronic books, police reports, blogs) using advanced IR techniques.
