Fabien Sorin

Fabien Sorin is an Associate Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) within the School of Engineering's Institute of Materials, where he heads the Laboratory of Photonic Materials and Fibre Devices (FIMAP). He holds additional teaching appointments in the School of Management (SMX) and Doctoral College (EDMX/EDAM), and serves as Director of SMX and member of the Section Directors' Conference (CDS).

Research focuses on pioneering multi-material fiber technologies with applications spanning energy systems, healthcare monitoring, and smart fabrics. His work integrates advanced photonic materials processing with device architecture innovation, particularly in:

• Optical fiber-based medical devices
• Light management in building materials
• Novel manufacturing techniques for functional textiles

Administrative leadership includes directing EPFL's School of Management and serving on doctoral program committees.
