Dr. Fabian Lechtenberg is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Chemical and Bioengineering of ETH Zürich, working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gonzalo Guillén Gosálbez. He is part of the SUPERlab group and focuses on Lifecycle Optimization and Game Theory, with a particular emphasis on sustainable production and consumption frameworks.
- PhD from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya
- Developed the PULPO framework for life cycle product optimization
- Teaches 'Case Studies in Process Engineering'
His research explores the integration of Lifecycle Inventory data sources to address sustainability challenges in industrial systems. The PULPO framework, a Python package he developed, enables efficient optimization of life cycle product systems through industrial symbiosis and circular economy approaches.
In teaching, he contributes to process engineering education through case study methodologies, emphasizing interdisciplinary applications. His work bridges computational tools with industrial ecology principles to advance sustainable manufacturing practices.
Current research activities involve expanding the PULPO framework's capabilities for diverse industrial applications, particularly in plastics recycling and water integration systems. This aligns with broader efforts to quantify environmental impacts through lifecycle modeling.
The SUPERlab team at ETH Zürich provides the collaborative environment for his research, integrating chemical engineering with data science approaches to tackle complex sustainability challenges.
