Francisco Jose Fraga Lopez is a Professor in the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), affiliated with the Faculty of Sciences. He leads the research group GI-1589 'Supramolecular Chemistry and Physical Chemistry of Colloids'. His doctoral thesis (1996) focused on thermal analysis applications in epoxy systems, supervised by Dr. Lisardo Núñez Regueira.
Research interests span supramolecular chemistry, nanocomposite materials, surfactant behavior, and epoxy resin modification with nanoparticles. Notable projects include gold nanoparticle-epoxy composites, bile salt derivatives, and chitin extraction from Asian hornets. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing thermal analysis and material characterization.
Recent work (2020–2023) highlights advancements in liquid crystal implants for retinal diseases, nanocomposite epoxy-gold systems, and computational studies of battery materials. His contributions bridge fundamental chemistry with applied materials science, with applications in biomedical engineering and sustainable materials.
Active in conference proceedings (SHO2023, DivulgaT 2022) and peer review for journals like Applied Mechanics and Polymers. His lab specializes in dielectric analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, and DSC/DTA techniques for material evaluation.
