Exequiel Camarig Cabanda

Dr. Exequiel Camarig Cabanda is a Research Fellow at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, part of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS). His interdisciplinary work focuses on health human resource policy, nurse migration, and the interplay between migration, higher education, and health systems. Prior to NUS, he was a Research Fellow at the NUS-Asia Research Institute, examining nurse migration pathways in India-Canada, Vietnam-Germany, and the Philippines-Singapore contexts.

Research Interests: Dr. Cabanda’s work bridges policy sciences and international political economy, addressing challenges in nurse mobility, sending-state policy regimes, and the globalization of healthcare workforces. He has contributed to understanding how policies shape healthcare labor markets and migration outcomes, particularly in the Philippines and Asia-Pacific regions.

Publications & Grants: His recent work includes studies on neoliberal development agendas in Philippine nurse education and the infrastructural dimensions of migrant healthcare workers’ mobility during the pandemic. He has secured grants from the Asia Research Institute (NUS) and the Canadian SSHRC.
