Professor Ewen McColl is Head of Peninsula Dental School and Director of Clinical Dentistry within the Faculty of Health at the University of Plymouth. He plays a key leadership role in clinical and academic dentistry, contributing significantly to education, research, and community impact in dental sciences.
His primary research interests lie in periodontology, restorative dentistry, and implant dentistry, with a focus on both surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapies. He has advanced training from leading institutions including the Eastman Dental Hospital and Guy’s Dental Hospital, and completed an endodontics internship at Loma Linda University, California.

He also serves as Director of Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise, integrating clinical service with academic mission.
He is the Editorial Director of Dental Update, a leading peer-reviewed clinical journal for general dental practitioners, becoming only the third person in its 50-year history to hold this position.
