Evgenia Christoforou

Evgenia Christoforou is a Research Fellow at CYENS Centre of Excellence (formerly known as RISEup), specifically within the TAG MRG research group in Nicosia, Cyprus. Previously, she held a postdoctoral position at Politecnico di Torino, Italy, and during her PhD studies was employed by IMDEA Networks Institute in Madrid, Spain.

Dr. Christoforou's research primarily focuses on improving quality and increasing reliability in crowdsourcing environments, with particular attention to data bias generated through crowdsourcing. She has also investigated mechanisms for imposing fairness conditions among rational players without monetary incentives and studied the performance of ranking algorithms operating under noisy comparisons. Her work bridges theoretical computer science with practical applications in human-computer interaction and data analysis.

Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on algorithm design for ranking systems, pandemic-related data analysis, and visual content interpretation. The work shows a consistent theme of addressing reliability and bias issues in data collected through human input, with applications spanning from theoretical network science to real-world pandemic response.
