Evangelos Papaefthymiou is a Research Professor at The Cyprus Institute, leading the Quantum Computing and Computational Physics Group within the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC). He earned a PhD in Physics (Computational Physics) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

His research focuses on quantum computing, computational physics, high-performance computing (HPC), and computational modeling of materials. He has supervised multiple PhD and Master’s students and contributes to funded research projects. Evangelos is a member of the European Physical Society and the American Physical Society.
He plays a key role in advancing computational sciences at CaSToRC while maintaining active collaborations and leadership in his research areas.
