Evangelos Asprogerakas is an Assistant Professor of Spatial Planning at the Department of Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Regional Development at the University of Thessaly, where he also serves as Director of the Institute of Tourism Planning, Research and Policy [ETouSEP]. Prior to his current position, he has taught at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), the Hellenic Open University, and the School of Public Administration and Local Government. His professional experience includes work as a Spatial Planner at the Ministry of Environment & Energy (2010-2018) and as a Special Scientist for Regional Development at the Ministry of Interior (2006-2010).
Professor Asprogerakas' research interests focus on Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development, with particular emphasis on spatial policy, strategic planning, and governance. His recent work explores Maritime Spatial Planning, spatial resilience, cultural heritage preservation, and integrated approaches to spatial development. His scholarly contributions include publications examining EU cohesion policy implementation in Greece, offshore wind energy development frameworks, and the relationship between spatial planning systems and territorial cohesion.
His publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output with recent articles (2020-2022) addressing contemporary spatial planning challenges in the Greek context. His work spans theoretical examinations of spatial planning systems and practical applications addressing issues like climate change adaptation, renewable energy development, and urban regeneration. His research often bridges academic theory with practical policy implementation.
