Evan Small is a Lecturer in Wellness at Elon University's School of Education, based in the Education and Wellness Office. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations from UNCG and certifications in Adventure-Based Learning and Nonprofit Management. His work focuses on experiential education, critical pedagogy, and social justice, with emphasis on integrating outdoor programs, community engagement, and anti-racist practices into teaching. He teaches over 30 courses across disciplines including Education, Outdoor Leadership (OLE), Poverty & Social Justice (PSJ), and Wellness (WHE).

Recent presentations address topics like 'Critical Community Building in Service-Learning' and 'Sustainability for All: An Anti-Racist Perspective.'
Professional Engagement: Active member of organizations like the John Dewey Society and Wilderness Education Association, he also serves on local and university committees including Elon's Honor Board and Recreation Planning Commission.
Advising & Leadership: Supervises internships, independent studies, and thesis research through courses like OLE 3985 and HNR 4998. His service includes roles like Guardian ad Litem and leadership in Elon's Experiential Learning initiatives.
