Dr. Eva Weiler is a Researcher in Political Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy, University of Duisburg-Essen, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities. Her work focuses on legal philosophy, property theory, natural resource ethics, and international law. She holds a PhD from the University of Duisburg-Essen (2020) and previously conducted research at Goethe University Frankfurt (2013-2014) as part of a German-French research network. She has been awarded the UDE Program for Excellent Young Scientists (2021/22) and joined the Global Young Faculty (Mercator Research Center Ruhr).
Her research explores normative foundations of property rights, legal pluralism, and environmental governance. Key topics include the moral implications of resource ownership, sovereignty challenges in globalized legal systems, and ecological sustainability frameworks. She actively participates in international conferences and has published in journals like Neue Politische Literatur and Routledge's Philosophy of Legal Change.
Eva Weiler has translated works by David Held and Martha Nussbaum on cosmopolitanism and has presented at institutions including the University of Bordeaux Montaigne and the University of Manchester. She co-leads the 'Political Philosophy Essen' working group and contributes to interdisciplinary discussions on global cooperation and environmental ethics.
