Eva Schmitt-Rodermund

Prof. Dr. Eva Schmitt-Rodermund serves as President of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences and Chair of the Brandenburg State Conference of University Presidents (BLHP). She leads an institution established 30 years ago with a mandate for non-technical degree programs of supra-regional importance and a commitment to interdisciplinarity.

The university operates through three profile lines under her leadership: Digital Transformation – Urban Future, Educating Society, and Designing ∙ Building ∙ Preserving. These frameworks position the institution at the interfaces of social development, directly impacting society through study, teaching, research, transfer, and continuing education.

Schmitt-Rodermund emphasizes the strength of small universities, highlighting their collaborative efforts, flexibility, and application-oriented approach. She has established a strategic partnership with Brandenburg University of Technology, with both institutions complementing each other in addressing 21st century social and technological challenges. She is currently focused on leveraging the new Higher Education Act to develop legislation enabling doctoral degrees, viewing the two universities as 'engines of innovation for the state of Brandenburg.'
