Eva Salgado Andrade

Eva Salgado Andrade is a full-time researcher at CIESAS (Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social) in Mexico City and a professor in the PhD program in Political and Social Sciences at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico). She coordinates the Semiotic Anthropology program in the Postgraduate Program in Anthropology at CIESAS and has been a regular member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences since November 2004.

Her research focuses on discourse analysis, particularly examining journalistic, political, and social-digital networks (especially Twitter), as well as social semiotics. She has supervised more than 50 doctoral, master's, and undergraduate theses at CIESAS and UNAM's Postgraduate Program in Political and Social Sciences. Her current research axes include emerging anthropologies, semiotic anthropology, digital discourse analysis, and methodology of discourse studies. Her scholarly approach combines linguistic theory with anthropological perspectives to analyze how digital platforms shape social and political realities in contemporary Mexico.

Dr. Salgado Andrade has led various research projects for agencies including the Bank of Mexico and the Federal Institute of Telecommunications. She previously served as Academic Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program at CIESAS (2005-2010) and Deputy Director of Teaching (2010-2014). Her current projects include 'Keys to a semiotic anthropology,' 'The digital construction of reality,' and 'Catalog of theses in anthropology.' She is actively involved in analyzing pandemic communication, political corruption discourse, and digital activism through social media platforms.
