Eva Jakab Toth is a CNRS research director at the Centre de Biophysique Moléculaire (CBM) in Orléans, France, with a focus on bioinorganic and coordination chemistry for medical imaging applications. She has held leadership roles, including director of CBM (2012–2021) and the CNRS Associated Laboratory at Jagellon University (2016–2021).
- PhD in Chemistry, University of Debrecen (1994)
- Habilitation, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2004)
Her research centers on paramagnetic metal complexes, particularly for MRI contrast agents and responsive imaging probes, with significant contributions to lanthanide and manganese-based agents for neuroimaging and biomedical diagnostics. Her work bridges coordination chemistry with translational medical imaging technologies.
Recent publications highlight advancements in Mn2+ chelate stability, redox-responsive MRI agents, and multimodal imaging strategies for neurotransmitter detection. She has co-edited seminal works on MRI contrast agents and contributed to 186 peer-reviewed publications.
- 2022 Fabinyi Rudolf Prize (Hungarian Chemical Society)
- 2022 Mariano Gago Prize (French-Portuguese research cooperation)
- 2020 Grand Prix 'Achille Le Bel' (French Chemical Society)
- 2019 External member, Hungarian Academy of Sciences
- 2018 CNRS Silver Medal
She has secured 7.1 M€ in research funding (2000–2021) from national and international agencies and coordinated industrial collaborations with companies like GE Healthcare and Novartis AG. Her lab team at CBM has included 130 research staff members, and she directs the French GDR network 'Molecular Imaging Agents'.
