Eva Goellner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Toxicology and Cancer Biology at the University of Kentucky. Her research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms linking DNA repair pathways to sensitivity toward DNA-damaging agents, particularly in cancer and environmental contexts. She holds a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed postdoctoral training at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
Education:
- Postdoctoral Fellowship: Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research
- PhD: University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
- BS: Carnegie Mellon University
Research interests include DNA repair mechanisms, mismatch repair pathways, and the interplay between environmental agents and genetic stability. Her lab investigates how DNA repair pathways influence cellular responses to chemotherapy and environmental toxins.
Key publications highlight her work on mismatch repair proteins (e.g., Msh2, Mlh1), chromatin remodeling in DNA repair, and the role of DNA polymerase β in therapeutic interventions. She has contributed to understanding how proteins like HLTF and SHPRH interact with mismatch repair systems.
