Eva Flicker is a Professor at the University of Vienna's Institute of Sociology within the Faculty of Social Sciences. She holds academic roles including Deputy Director of the Institute, coordinator of the Master's program in Gender Studies, and member of various university committees such as the Gender Equality Task Force. Her research focuses on film sociology, visual sociology, group dynamics, and gender studies, with a recent emphasis on digital visual communication in education and organizations.
Educational background includes a Habilitation in Sociology (2006) and PhD (1997) from the University of Vienna. She has held visiting scholar positions at institutions worldwide, including Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf (2022) and University of Kent (2019). Her work explores topics like female academics in film, Austrian cinema as social critique, and gender representation in media.
Key awards include the Bank Austria Stiftungspreis for interdisciplinary teaching and the UNIVIE Teaching Award (2014). She leads research projects such as the Austrian Film Gender Report and Gender-Integration-Gamification. Active in professional development, she teaches group dynamics seminars and organizes workshops on leadership, gender, and intercultural communication.
Her research outputs span over 78 publications, with recent works addressing online group training dynamics, visual analysis of film gender representation, and systemic group learning methodologies.
