Eva Bojner Horwitz is a Professor of Music and Health at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH), affiliated with Karolinska Institutet's Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society. She co-founded the Center for Social Sustainability (CSS) at Karolinska Institutet and chairs KMH's Sustainability Council. Her roles include membership on the Scientific Council of the Dance in School Foundation and the board of Culture and Health. She holds a doctorate in social medicine from Uppsala University (2004).
Her research focuses on interdisciplinary music and health, blending social medicine, music psychology, neuroscience, and public health. Key projects include The Orchestral Body (mapping stress signals) and A Singing Generation (community singing for mental/physical well-being). She explores how music enhances learning environments, social sustainability, and public health, with publications in books like The Cultural Health Box and studies on music's role during the pandemic.
Eva supervises doctoral students and leads educational initiatives, including CSS's workshops on empathy and compassion in society. She collaborates internationally, such as with the Nordic Council of Ministers on cultural health projects in healthcare systems. Her work emphasizes integrating arts into healthcare and education to foster resilience and social cohesion.
