Dr. Eva Balong is a Visiting Associate Professor at the Roux Institute, Northeastern University, and a Life Sciences Fellow with the Institute for Experiential AI. She holds a permanent position as Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of New England, where she is an inaugural member of UNE’s Portland Laboratory for Biotechnology and Health Sciences and the Center for Cell Signaling Research.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and postdoctoral training at Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies.
Dr. Balong's research focuses on the biophysical characterization of engineered proteins for biomaterials and biotechnology applications, with specialized expertise in:
